*smoke signals for help in the sky*

Sorry to post this here, but I'm not sure where else to post it.

I would REALLY like to be able to test my sites php scripts locally. I have apache installed.. and php, but when I 'apachectl start' it says httpd has started, but nothing on my page changes. Also, I have changed the extension of my pages to .php, so that's not it.
